Environmental Issues in Land Development

Washington/Jefferson

This 4 inning seminar will cover the bases when it comes to common land development issues related to environmental concerns.  It will include the latest information on wetlands permitting and compliance, stream restoration studies and design, as-builts and monitoring, archaeology, the current Chesapeake Bay and SWM regulations, RPA determinations and much, much more.

You will enhance your knowledge and make yourself more capable of discussing the potential development of raw land with your clients and developers.  We all know that environmental issues are paramount when it comes to development, and you will want to have all your bases covered when communicating with your clients.

The lead speaker will be Loretta Cummings, PhD, Senior Regulatory Specialist at Stantec and Adjunct Professor at Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg, VA.  Her expertise includes National Environmental Policy Act documentation including categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, as well as Section 4(f), Section 6(f), and Section 106 documents.

  Presenter: Loretta Cummings, Stantec
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Condominium Surveys- Perspectives from the Land Surveyors, Attorney, and Developer
Washington/Jefferson

Outside of the larger municipal areas, condominium surveys are not common projects that most land surveyors face on a regular basis, and in fact many avoid them all together. This seminar will explore all aspects of completing a condominium survey from the perspective of the land surveyor, attorney and developer, and discuss the tasks undertaken by each party during the process. Mr. Brown will discuss field and office procedures that are undertaken by the land surveyor, Mr. Craig will discuss the legal aspects that must be considered, and Mr. Carneal will discuss issues that face the developer of such a project.
Presenters: P. Duane “Doc” Brown, L.S. P.S. Marsh & Legge Land Surveyors, P.L.C.;  Cary Craig, Attorney; Stan Corneal, Developer
